A comeback Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, took control to push for a final set.

He defended four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
